Aramean people: Aramean people (not to be confused with ‘Armenians’) speak Aramaic, the language spoken by Abraham, Moses and Jesus. They are the indigenous people of what was called in ancient times Aram- Nahrin, in our days it is called ‘Mesopotamia’.
Some Arameans today identify themselves with “Assyrians”, because of the spiritual colonial hate generating activities of the Western missionaries and diplomats in the Middle-East in 16th and 19th centuries. Other Arameans became known as “Chaldeans”. However all of them are Arameans.

The ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its deep sympathy and horror and condemns the atrocious terrorist attack on the “Saida Al Najat” church in ‘Karrada’ which took place on 31/10/2010, causing the death of many innocent fellow citizens and number of wounded ones.
The blind terror crossed all the noble human values, for the attack took place on the place of prayer at the moment of pray for peace and security for our beloved country.
Our ministry expresses its deep regret for the death of many innocent victims and underscores its cordial sympathy with the beloved Christian people whom form a important part of the history and civilisation of this country, in the past, present and future. We call upon the Iraqi people to unite all together against the plans of dark forces whose aim is to clean the country of all Christians. The goal of these plans is in particular the creation of conflicts between various communities. This flagrant attack will strengthen the determination of Iraqi people to fight terrorism and terrorists as well as consolidating the solidarity of the people to thwart the plans of the enemies of our persistent nation.
Our ministry repeats its appeal to the qualified authorities and all the security forces to remain firm against every attempt, with the goal to incite Iraqi communities against one another based on their background, and is urging to protect our people, including protection of places of prayer and religious customs which are safeguarded in the Iraqi constitution.
We convey our condolences to the relatives and families of the martyrs and other Iraqis with this large loss that has affected all of us and we ask the Almighty God His blessings for a quick recovery of the wounded ones.
The minister of Foreign Affairs
